The Osmium Frontier - a Space Western variant of ITEN

All, Ever since GameCraft Minis released Krazy Ivan's Wired West buildings, I've been kicking around some ideas for a new Space Western setting. Specifically, one that doesn't automatically remind everyone of Firefly. :) http://krazyivanswargames.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Wired-West-Street-1-e1...

Re: In Her Majesty's Name Release information

Very nice figures! Almost makes me wish I hadn't given up 28mm gaming. :) When you originally told us about the project, I didn't realize so many different pulp settings would be covered. I'll definitely pick up the rules - Rebel, Splintered Light, Khurasan, and Blue Moon all make nice 15mm pulp fig...

15mm AAR using Darkest Star Games figures

All, Here's the writeup of a 125-point mini-game from last night. I used the first Colony 15 figures from Darkest Star Games, and their stat cards are in the report. http://dropshiphorizon.blogspot.com/2012/12/colony-15-in-emperors-name-aar.html Also, one of the figure packs I used was the Zonii Mou...

Re: Is this Dreadnought Infantry of a Vehicle?

Omer, (sorry I didn't see this sooner - haven't been here nearly as often as I should be) I went back and forth on it too, but ultimately decided to treat them as Power Armor. In my mind, they are simply a lower-tech equivalent of power armor, so they don't function in the same way as proper armored...

Re: Some serious reconsiderations...

It does seem a little steep. But long range can make a huge difference in this type of game. What about 1,2,3,6,9 for the weapon range costs instead of 1,2,4,9,16?

I've been giving re-rolls to twin-linked weapons. Yes, it's borrowed from a much poorer ruleset, but it works well enough. :)

Re: The Shadow Worlds - a 15mm Space Opera Army

The army is my first attempt at a new game-setting technique. Take an existing world from a movie, book, comic, show, video game, etc., break it down into raw story elements, and use those elements to build a new setting that fits an existing figure and terrain collection. For example: start with th...

The Shadow Worlds - a 15mm Space Opera Army

FUBAR is a great rule set and all, but lately I've found myself playing more games of Forge of War. So, in the hopes of resurrecting this section: here's the workup for my latest 15mm army. The Shadow Worlds are located on the furthest reaches of known space. They were discovered late during humanit...

Re: Fubar Mech Rules Proposal

Alright, after giving this thing a few solid reads, here's my thoughts on the proposal. @Kelvin - I'm looking at these purely for 15mm use , so don't take any comments the wrong way. They could be used as-is with Battletech, CAV, and Heavy Gear models (and be a lot more fun than any of those rule se...

Yep, just used the normal vehicle rules, other than lowering movement a bit. The unit cards I used for the Cimmerian invaders are in this thread: http://www.forgeofwar.uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=131 and the Laurentian defenders are posted here: http://dropshiphorizon.blogspot.com/2011/12/...

15MM Christmas War - Scenario One AAR

All, I finally managed to finish the battle report for my first Christmas War game. This was actually a fairly small scenario - only eight infantry and two battle bots on the side of the Laurentian defenders, while the Cimmerian invaders had sixteen infantry and a battle mech. https://lh4.googleuser...

Re: The Christmas War - Invasion of Laurentia

The cards have been great for me... I just make one whenever I finish painting a unit. The card sits right behind or below the unit on my display shelf... whenever I want to play a game, I set up a table, grab an army and its cards, and throw some dice. It's amazing how many more games I play this w...

Re: The Christmas War - Invasion of Laurentia

I picked a few minis out of my lead pile to represent the Cimmerian invaders. I wanted these to be a lower-technology (but more numerous) force than the Laurentians, so the Rebel Minis Homeguard ended up being my solution. These will run in teams of four: a command team of 3x carbines and 1x designa...

Re: The Christmas War - Invasion of Laurentia

Re: The Christmas War - Invasion of Laurentia

I must admit I know very little about units from your side of the pond in Korea. Most of what I do know was on the Air Force side of it (some relatives were B-52 mechanics in that conflict). I'll have to do some homework and see if I can create some more parallels. :)

The Christmas War - Invasion of Laurentia

Here's the background I've written for my personal version of The Christmas War. All campaign participants are welcome to steal any piece of this for your own games, or use the whole thing if you like! Avalonia was an early Earth colony, found in 2112 AD. Two separate colonies were establisehd on A...

I'll have to add this to the Generic Sci-Fi Supplement. :) Though Angel Barracks made a point (on the TMP thread)... not sure if you could even use infantry in a scenario with GTE2. I'm reading through the 3rd edition draft now and making notes. I'm very happy to be around for this revision... Forge of War is the rule set that pulled me away from GW in the first place. I no longer play 40k (I honestly never liked the rules), but some of the fluff still entertains me. It looks like a Blood Angels army if 40k was a space opera instead of a 90%-f...

Awesome, I'll draft a page or two for scratch-building retinues. I'll include a "conventional" example that could easily be copied and pasted from existing lists, along with a very unconventional example to show readers what these rules can do.
