Re: GZG UNSC Light platoon finished

I usually break them down to four four-man fire teams. The support squad and drones either operate as separate units or can be broken up amongst the fire teams.

GZG UNSC Light platoon finished

Finally finished these up. May have to get them on the table for a quick game today.

Re: AAR commentary

In my variation leaders are characters. All characters can activate a unit on their activation roll, but characters with the leadership characteristic allows the unit that activated with the character to use the leaders' expertise and suppression values rather than their own.

Maybe if they fail an activation they charge the nearest model in line of sight (friend or foe).

Merka 5

This is the beginning of the next force for me using Rebel Earth Force figures along with the Merka 5 and Siler tanks. Click the link to my blog for some background on the forces involved in my little corner of the galaxy and a couple more (and larger) pictures. http://www.scsminimadness.blogspot.co...

Re: FUBAR Force Projection (What forces are you working on?)

I've got a bunch of GZG UNSC that need finishing, a platoon's worth of Earth Force troops with a Merka V and a Khurasan Siler, and some vehicles for my Khurasan Mekanoids (three AT-41 walkers and a Dictator). One of these days I'll get some more bug types and Mekanoids to round those out.

Re: Ultra-FUBAR: The Cavalry's Stand

I think the vehicle rules need to be tweaked. I'm thinking about changing the rule for rolling on the damage table for each successful hit and replacing it with a rule that requires only a single roll on the table but you get a +1 for each additional successful hit. Otherwise it's nearly impossible...

Re: Ultra-FUBAR: The Cavalry's Stand

There's three things I've learned about vehicles in FUBAR. 1) If you're going to bring them, bring more than one. 2) Make sure your infantry have a way to kill them. 3) Don't shoot them in their front armor.

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

I was going to make the point-buy system a separate document. That way I keep the rules and the points calculator separate. And to be honest, I have a tendency to overcomplicate things when it comes to point systems so there will probably be a spreadsheet involved.

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

I was trying to allow for units that can move at different speeds to represent faster/slower species or vehicles. Average human should be 6". I have my Felids with a Speed of 7. I didn't include examples because I wasn't sure at the time how much space I'd have left. Average wheeled/tracked spe...

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

Tried it with one of my sons today. The parts that were in play worked well, but need to work out which has priority when a weapon that ignores armor saves hits a vehicle that ignores hits.

Having just the three options for a unit that failed activation seems to work fine.

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

I wanted to try it with Craig's first idea of having only a few actions for a unit that failed activation. I think for my purposes it'll be sufficient.

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

I decided that I wasn't entirely happy with my first attempt at this supplement. So I've revamped it into a two-page core rules included version. Some of the stuff added/changed are the capability to make a single action from a limited list on a failed activation, characters, adding a "move&quo...

Re: Fubar new concepts.

I've never really had a problem with the suppression rules, kinda like them actually. Just felt that they'd be a little more understandable if they had more space for a better explanation. Suppression is an important concept in small unit tactics. Most modern tactics involve a fire team or squad sup...

Re: Activation

I like this idea. My son is the only person I know with worse luck than myself in the few games he has played has had to sit and get obliterated without much recourse. Most of the other games I play have a two action per activation system, so this isn't out of line with what's already out there in t...

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

I like the special attributes for weapons. The idea of some weapons being more powerful (affecting armor saves) is a nice touch. Thanks! Did you find anything that wasn't clear? Looking back at it, I think I may need to clarify how "ingores armor save" interacts with massive vehicles and ...

Re: Beginners quesry - also posted on the Yahoo site.

I've been using On Guard as an interrupt for any observed enemy action, movement or not. Doesn't seem to unbalance things. Though I've been using fairly heavy terrain so units that don't activate generally won't have LOS to anything else.

Re: Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

I knew the Diamond Jubilee was going on, but being a Yank didn't realize how big an affair it is.

The main differences are addition of rules for long range fire, massive vehicles (like Khurasan's Siler or Dictator), and special attributes for weapons and vehicles.

Sgt Crunch's 15mm sci-fi supplement

OK, here's the first rough draft. I have yet to play test it, and need to finish assembling/painting several models to test all of it. I think the only thing I wanted to add but ran out of space was characters. After some play testing I may find other things I want add. Some things may look familiar...

Saves and Unit Level

As mentioned in my introductory thread I played my second game today and have a couple questions. When a unit or vehicle is fired on does it roll one die for each model in the targeted unit or one die for each hit? Say I've got a tank that was hit three times. Does it roll one die and automatically ...

Just played my second game to show the boys. (I relented and let the 5 year old play on my team.) They all enjoyed it and picked up the rules by the third turn.
