Running

Postby Jodrell » September 16th, 2012, 3:51 pm

ITEN Rulebook, Page 13, Section 7.2:

During the shooting phase, if a model has no enemies in line of sight, that model may choose to run an additional 3" instead of shooting.

ITEN Rulebook, Page 14, Section 7.3:

Each player may shoot with any or all the figures that he has, and may run any figures that are not shooting and have no enemy in line of sight when they begin their run. A run move is 1D6+Speed inches.

Which is it?

A 1D6 run move makes the move more interesting,
because you might make it, or you might not...
A little bit of uncertainty...
All the more fun...

How about splitting the difference and having it be 1D3 + Speed?

The run rule is very vague to say the least. Yes if you move then don't have a target to shoot at you can move up to a further 3", I get that. But why would you opt to make a run move at the start of your turn where it is 1D6 + Speed Bonus so you would have the very real possibility of moving less distance than your normal move and then not having the option to shoot !!

We have kept the first rule and then if you decide to run at the start of a movement phase it is 6" + 1D3.

I read that as a typo, and treat Running as 3" in the Shooting Phase.
