I’m very pleased and proud to announce that the Gamer’s Edition Third Edition of In the Emperor’s Name is now available to download.

This edition builds on the Second Edition (released in July 2011) with enhancements to almost every part of the core rules. It updates and revises some of the core game mechanics such as the points calculation formula, and introduces a new Equipment system.

The Gamer’s Edition has the same clean and simple layout as the First and Second Editions, with all new cover artwork from Joe Urban.

In the near future we will be releasing updated editions of the Retinue List and Campaigns Book. In the meantime, the online Retinue Builder can be used to manage and update retinue lists.

Once these are released, we’ll start work on the Gold Edition of ItEN, which will feature full-colour artwork and fan fiction submitted by the community on the ItEN forum.

ItEN is the work of many enthusiastic gamers, who are listed in the Credits section at the front of the book, but particular thanks go to:
  • Craig, our benevolent dictator
  • Joe for has fantastic artwork
  • Pascal for his enthusiastic advice and suggestions

Printer broke down a few days ago,
will print it at work tomorrow.

Looking good so far Jodrell,
I love the artwork.
I skipped to the vehicle section,
the points cost is still incorrect I am afraid.
All vehicles are stated one point to cheap.

The grav car should no be 20pts, but 21.
the next should not be 30pts, but 31,
and so forth...

This looks great, but I have some questions...

1) Where is the weapon list? I looked in the Retinue Builder, and that doesn't seem to have weapon stats, either.

2) In the Retinue Builder, what is 'Add a Figure' supposed to do? So far, even when I 'Add New Figure', there's still nothing to select, it just gives me 'Select' with a check mark next to it.

3) Are the equipment/weapon/armor restrictions implemented in the Retinue Builder yet?

4) Is there any way to give a figure more than one weapon or piece of equipment in the Retinue Builder?

Congratulations! I've played Fubar before, but this release reminded me I need to play some ItEN games too. Thanks for all your hard work. :D

Each faction has its own weapon list in the Retinues Book.

Can you post/PM a screenshot?

No - I haven't planned on adding these, as they would make the database design much more complicated. I may add a notice stating that the RB does not guarantee "legal" retinues and figures.

Yes - hold down the Ctrl key (Command key on Macs) when clicking on items in the box to select more than one.

Thanks for making this happen folks.
I've downloaded it and signed up for the warband creator and encouraged my club to do the same.

We're up to our ears in preparation for our summer Song of Blades campaign, but maybe we can try and play some ITEN 3.0 in the fall. I know I'd love to get my squats fighting again!

Hello Jodrell,

I've looked the rules trough.
The math is still incorrect,
not just the vehicles, but the examples during shooting and melee as well.
I see you have corrected some,
but there are stil a lot of mistakes.
For example:

the second part of example 4.
The chaos marine has strength 5 against the refractor field 7 of the Inquisitor.
So only a 1 would be a miss,
but the 2 is a hit.
In the example it states that the 2 is also a miss.

The rules say you have to equal or exceed the AV Value.
But most of the examples state that it is only exceed.

So which is/are incorrect?
The math examples or the rules?

This has been an issue in Iten2,
and seems to still not have been solved.
A simple answer would suffice as to which of the two is correct.

What would you say is the big difference between Iten 2 and Iten 3,
apart from the retinue creator?
The jump rule is a big improvement,
as are the upped costs for weapons.
