Anyone is welcome, by the way, to post their own VSF armies, battle reports, rosters, etc. here. I've got a lot that I'll be posting, but this isn't my show, it's all of ours. Please join the fun!

I've converted the links to attachments. This way I only have one place to keep updated.

Speaking of updates, I updated them - added a bit about fighting in formations, and made the cascading changes to the rosters.

October 6, 2011: Minor tweaks to the Confederates - if you're not using my figures (and if you are, I salute your stealth in doing so without my noticing) it won't affect you.

Do something awesome as mutually agreed by all Players.
is an especially good use of a HP.

I just reorganized the roster creator so that each force fits on one side of a sheet of paper. I also finally went through all the VSF units I've painted since my last update and added stats for them.

Contraptions gone amok!

Postby Denizen Kane » December 30th, 2011, 3:27 pm

I am just getting started using the FUBAR rules but My situation makes me have to play solo  I am a builder so I,ve got a bunch of models and up until now no way to play with em. So now I,ll have to figuire out a way to play solo. But I can already see how easy the rules are so any ideas would be helpful.

Half of my games are solo games.
Giving each side an objective helps make it obvious what each side should do.
Means you don't have to out-think yourself.

Then the way the activation works it means quite often that things don't happen when you want them to.

Then when things to activate on cue you will roll ones!

Plenty to help make it work as a solo game.

Thanx for the help! Have finally had a modecum of success! You are so right about the randomness of action. I found myself put in some comical situations. Of course haveing an umpire or referee would smooth things along better. I am finally playing with my models so thats half the battle.(No pun intended!LOL)

I have added a preliminary roster for some converted Romans by Warlord Games.

David Drake wrote a book about the Roman legion defeated at Carrhae, postulating that it was sold into slavery to aliens. This roster postulates that they got free and found their way home, just in time to contest the 1879 Martian Punitive Expedition.

As always I welcome suggestions and criticism.

I've updated the rules very slightly
- Tweaked Activation with some of the ideas from the Ultra FUBAR discussions. You now make a second Activation roll upon failure, which determines whether you can go on guard/assault, whatever.
- Corrected a minor mistake in the points formula - the rulesheet was wrong, not the rosters.
- Clarified that crew-served weapons move or fire, and cannot run

Has anyone played any games with this using a high number of vehicles, or really large airships where you're managing the crew models? I'm curious how solid that part is.

Lanse, can you post a link to the current VSF rules as a word document instead of a PDF? I would like to make some minor changes for my particular campaign, and I really don't want to have to reformat the entire bloody thing after copying it from the PDF. I am lazy that way.

;)

Here you go. I know there are some changes pending to the vehicle section, but I'm not sure if those will be in the rosters or the rules. I shall happily take feedback.

How do you work your Cavalry, Froggy? Do you use the same move as Infantry, because I can't find a difference in the VSF rules?

Cavalry moves twice as fast as infantry.
A lot of the special tweaks, such as that, are on the skill list in the main rules or stuck onto the appropriate statblock in the rosters.

Aha! Well, I am tweaking the rules slightly (I'll show you when I am done) to fit the group I am playing with and the campaign, and it needs to be laid out in B&W for them. They are all either Sword and Flame or Warhammer players...

Froggy these are great! Though I don't play this period, I always thought FUBAR could stand a "Pulp" incarnation. These are a good blueprint to work from.
