Card Systems ?

Postby Denizen Kane » December 30th, 2011, 3:32 pm

I have heard alittle about card systems but I,m not clear on exactly how they are used. Since I am forced to play solo games is this type of thing workable?

Okies.
I prefer mega huge landships over walkers anyday.

But then I prefer airships over landships any day too.

I,ve heard about a system that tells you (the Players or player) who moves when? But like I said the info was kinda scrambled as I was talking to a guy on the subway. I had never heard about something like that and then I started to ask ppl about solo gaming and it kept coming up. I just never got a good answer. Is it becuz there are many systems or what?

There are many games that use a card draw mechanism to determine which player can activate a unit. Is this what you mean?

Yes that,s what I,m talking about. I,ve heard they can be used in solo play and was looking for a more detailed description than the one I got. Not trying to be a pain but for the life of me couldn,t really explain it correctly Sorry folks :(

A common way is to assign each unit a card from a deck and then put only those cards into a deck.
Shuffle and draw a card, the card drawn is the unit you activate.

So you may 5 units on each side:

side A:

1 of spades = normal squad
2 of spades = normal squad
3 of spades = normal squad
4 of spades = normal squad
Ace of spades = support squad

Same for side B but hearts.

Put the 10 cards into a deck, shuffle and activate the card drawn.
Once that unit is done, put the card aside and draw the next one.
Repeat until all cards are drawn then reshuffle and start the next turn.

Each squad will need some sort of marker though so you know which one is the 2 of spades and which one is the 3 of spades and so on.

It does.
I played that system with some 25mm ACW (shock horror) and almost all my units were at the bottom of the deck in one of the turns...
Not good!
