Froggy's VSF Confederates

Postby Froggy the Great » September 12th, 2011, 3:09 pm

Here are pics of the VSF Confederate states of America army that I've fielded a number of times. For background, I completely lifted the Deadlands RPG setting, and Pinnacle Entertaiment Group has my gratitude. At the time of this posting, the army has never been defeated except in demo games...

The commanders and characters - Miss Caroline Dodge, Hank the mechanic, Sgt. Thomas Gamble, Col. Jasper Forrester, and a small detachment of Harrowed soldiers who for the moment have their manitous under control:

Taria Sal, a Martian/Barsoomian woman who has for some reason joined the Confederate cause. She and Miss Dodge trade bullets nearly every game.

The few, the brave, the hapless - The regular Confederate soldier:

Captain Jonathan High, and his mostly-unexploded steamrocket troops:

The few, the mad, the not yet on fire - They wish they'd had these flamethrowers in 1862:

Mad Edith, leader of the flamethrowers when she herself is recovering from third degree burns:

The Clockwork Cowboy:

And the flying ironclad C.S.S. Caudell, the basis of the Atlantean Confederate beachhead:

Wow, I like that idea, the main character are really very good painted.

I hope that soon you will upload the stats, and a AAR with photos

Congratulations

Now adding cavalry figures by Perry Miniatures. Converted and painted to tabletop standard by me.

Note the brave few who carry anti-steamtank torpedoes. As my VSF Confederates army is pretty much straight Deadlands, I figure that having more than a few weapons that can go horribly horribly wrong while trying to write home to mama cannot be a bad thing...

I assume you added the goggles as well? It's amazing how a few simple touches can change a figure from historical to Steampunk.

Being a W40k Orc General I love the idea of anti-steamtank torpedoes. Reminds me of tankhammers (place large calibre artillery shell on the end of a 2m pole. Swing into side of tank :D ).
Cheers,
Craig.

The goggles were just balls of putty that I pushed into place with the de-bristled ferrule of an old 10/0 brush.

And yeah, I'd just gone to see the H.L. Hunley when I made the Confederate aeronef up above, so I figured it was a theme worth continuing, and just mad enough to put on horseback too.

I accidentally made these while painting Atlantean cavalry. This sort of thing happens sometimes.

Added some walking steamtanks, and updated the roster list at the top of the thread.
